SoClean 2 CPAP Sanitizing Machine Overview
The SoClean 2 by Sunset Healthcare Solutions is an innovative CPAP cleaner. It kills 99.9% of germs throughout the CPAP, including those hard-to-reach places like tubes. It's not necessary to take the masks or machine apart to use it. Neither water nor harsh chemicals are required, so there is no daily mess; just clean, fresh equipment ready for you to use -- all in about 10 minutes.
The unit's unique design works with all types of CPAP masks: nasal, nasal pillow, and full face. The SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizing Machine comes with a universal fitting that works with the vast majority of CPAP machine models. The attachment connects to the CPAP equipment, forming a closed system.
How the SoClean 2 Works
The SoClean 2 has a generator that breaks oxygen molecules (O2) apart. Free oxygen atoms combine into Activated Oxygen (also called Ozone or O3). The Activated Oxygen kills 99.9% of pathogens when concentrated sufficiently. That is why hospitals, water treatment facilities, and the food industry all use it.
The Activated Oxygen flows from the cleaning unit into the CPAP equipment, disinfecting the humidifier reservoir, the tubing, and the mask. Because Activated Oxygen is a gas, it reaches into every crevice, fold, and all other hard-to-reach places. It kills quickly and efficiently.
The Activated Oxygen does not last long and begins to break back down into free Oxygen atoms. A filter converts any leftover Ozone into regular air. The oxygen gets released as normal (O2) once the machine finishes its cleansing.
The SoClean 2 CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer is the perfect product to keep CPAP users breathing healthy air. For a quick wipe down of CPAP equipment, many individuals have found wipes like Citrus II CPAP Mask Wipes to be incredibly helpful.
Is Ozone Safe for CPAP Cleaning?
According to the manufacturer, if the directions are followed exactly as given, the machine is safe to use. However, the use of Ozone to clean CPAP equipment voids some manufacturers' warranties. That is because Ozone may cause natural rubber and nylon to break down.
The SoClean 2 Machine Difference
The manufacturer indicates that because this machine works without chemicals, there are no fragrances or unpleasant odors left behind. If there are, it may be because Activated Oxygen can interact with any existing residue and produce odors. If this occurs, use the pre-cleaning treatment to eliminate any leftover solutions that may have been used for cleaning prior to the purchase of the SoClean.
Using this machine saves time and effort as the CPAP equipment apart does not need to be taken apart. Just place the mask into the SoClean unit, close the lid on the cleaning unit, attach the adapter, and start the cleaning machine.
The germ-killing gas fills the humidity reservoir, killing 99.9% of everything in the water and the tank. The Ozone travels through the tubing, decontaminating as it goes. It then flows through the mask and wipes out all the microorganisms living there.
