Silverlon Wound Contact Dressing Overview
The Silverlon Wound Contact Non-Adhesive Dressing supports wound healing with antimicrobial silver. It features silver ions that activate when moistened by sterile water, distilled water, or saline. The silver ions reduce the risk of infection by preventing bacterial penetration and killing wound bacteria. This silver dressing is used for donor and graft sites, partial thickness wounds, pressure ulcers, and more. It is useful in the management of painful wounds, with a nonadherent wound contact layer that makes dressing changes less painful.

How the SilverIon Wound Contact Dressings Work
The released silver ions kill microorganisms in three steps. First, the silver ions bind to cell wall receptors, which prevents cellular respiration. By eliminating cellular respiration, the cells can't take in the nutrients needed to survive. Lastly, the silver ions break through the cell wall to disrupt the replication of DNA and prevent reproduction.
Indications for Use
The Silverlon antimicrobial dressings are prescribed for dermal and arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers, traumatic wounds, 1st- and 2nd-degree burns, surgical wounds (incisions, donor, and graft sites), peripheral IV sites or vascular access, wound drain sites, and orthopedic external pin sites. Over-the-counter uses include the management of superficial wounds, minor burns, abrasions, and lacerations.
The Silverlon dressings provide an antimicrobial barrier and are suitable for the management of infected or painful wounds. This wound dressing also helps to reduce the risk of infection.
