The PROMOGRAN PRISMA Matrix Dressing is a collagen dressing for the management of exuding wounds such as ulcers and traumatic or surgical wounds. Upon contact with wound exudate, the dressing turns into a conformable gel that lets it keep contact with the entire wound bed in order to protect it. It is composed of collagen, oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), and silver. This collagen dressing covers the wound bed, creating an environment that is essential to rapid wound healing, granulation tissue formation, and epithelialization. Over time, the biodegradeable gel absorbs into the skin, negating the need for painful removal.

The PROMOGRAN PRISMA matrix is comprised of a sterile freeze-dried composite with three ingredients: 44% oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), 55% collagen, and 1% silver-ORC. The silver-ORC contains 25% ionically bound silver which acts as an antimicrobial agent¹. Collagen is essential for the generation of new tissue. 

The PROMOGRAN PRISMA Matrix transforms into a soft conformable biodegradable gel upon contact with exudate. It conforms to the wound bed, absorbs wound fluids, and provides both cover and protection from outside contaminants. The dressing maintains a physiologically moist microenvironment at the wound surface that is conducive to granulation tissue formation, epithelization, and optimal wound healing. It aids in repairing damaged tissue as well as growing new cells. The dressing also helps control bacterial growth and reduce bioburden.

What is the difference between Silver-ORC and Silver Ag in a dressing?
Silver-ORC is designed to promote granulation tissue development and stimulate wound healing while also providing protection against infection (2). Silver Ag protects against infection but does not promote tissue development.

How long can you leave PRISMA on a wound?
A new matrix should be applied every 72 hours unless otherwise directed by a medical professional. It is not necessary to remove any residual PRISMA wound dressing.

Are there any wounds this dressing should not be applied to?
The PROMOGRAN PRISMA matrix should not be applied to extensive burns, those with sensitivity to the components, and any wound with necrotic tissue.

Can this dressing be used on an infected wound?
Only if proper medical treatment has been applied to the cause of infection.

Can I use this with other bandages?
Yes. Apply a secondary bandage to further protect the wound and keep the dressing in place. It can also be used under a compression bandage.
