Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint
The Comfort Cool Thumb CMC Restriction Splint is designed to provide support and stability of the thumb and carpometacarpal (CMC) joint. It provides gentle, consistent compression to the entire joint to help relieve discomfort from conditions like repetitive-motion injuries, arthritis, medial subluxation, and tendinitis. The Comfort Cool Thumb Wrap is secured by a strap just below the wrist and is held in place using a hook-and-loop closure.
Sizing Guide
In order to obtain the optimum benefit from a Comfort Cool Thumb Splint, it is important to wear the correct size. When measuring the hand, use a soft measuring tape and measure the circumference of the palm, just below the knuckles. Do not include the thumb when measuring. On the size chart, there are standard sizes and plus sizes. The plus sizes add a half size to the palm and a full size to the thumb. This additional space is provided to accommodate any swelling that might be present as a result of injury or surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a restriction brace?
A restriction brace performs two basic functions. Primarily, a restriction brace prevents motions that could exacerbate the existing condition. Secondly, a restriction brace provides support, providing limited use of the joint being supported.
What is the CMC joint?
The carpometacarpal (CMC) joint, located at the very base of the thumb, is a saddle joint that permits a wide range of motion and is largely responsible for the hand's dexterity. This joint is subject to large physical stresses throughout life.
How do you measure to find the right size of CMC brace?
Measure the circumference of the hand at the palm, just below the knuckles.
What is the difference between a thumb restriction brace and a thumb abduction brace?
A restriction thumb brace is used for when patients are required to immobilize CMC joint, while thumb abduction splints are purchased to immobilize metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joints.
Does the Comfort Cool Arthritis Thumb Splint contain any metal?
No. The brace contains only neoprene and terrycloth.
