Overview
The Nasco Life/form NG Tube and Trach Skills Simulator is an anatomical model to facilitate hands-on instruction of respiratory and gastrointestinal care. This trainer features a newly designed Life/form head and torso with nasal and oral access for medical students to learn how to properly insert and manage a nasogastric and tracheostomy tube.
The Life/form Respiratory and Gastrointestinal Care Simulator features realistic anatomical landmarks, trachea, esophagus, lungs, and stomach with fluid pathways to add a mucus-like substance. Hydroxyethyl cellulose is mixed with water and added to the lungs and stomach to create real patient scenarios for students to perform tracheostomy care and suctioning. The trainer may also be used by students to practice endotracheal intubation and other medical procedures involving the throat, nose, and mouth.

Simulator Care Instructions
- Most cleaning can be performed with the trainer fully assembled.
- Wash the exterior with warm soapy water and pat dry. For heavier stains, use Nasco Cleaner LF09919U.
- Remove the back panel to access the lungs. Disconnect and replace with drainage tubing and empty in a sink or bucket (Figure 2).
- Flush the tubing with warm soapy water.
- If needed, use a flexible brush to clean any hard-to-reach areas.
- Allow the trainer and components to dry completely before storing it in the hard case provided.
Cautions
- Do not place the model on a newspaper or any printed surface to prevent staining.
- Do not expose to extreme temperatures or it will deform the trainer.
