Molnlycke's Mextra Superabsorbent Wound Dressing provides high fluid absorption and retention. It is designed to manage highly exuding wounds like venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and some pressure ulcers. These dressings help reduce the risk of leakage and maceration through cutting-edge absorption and retention properties. With a soft border, these dressings are extremely conformable and versatile. Pair with Matrix Elastic Bandages to keep exuding wounds safe and secure throughout the healing process.
Product Overview
Increased Absorption
This wound dressing has been upgraded to absorb 15% more exudate than the former dressing. The increased fluid absorption reduces the number of dressing changes, treatment costs, and the risk of skin maceration. This increased absorption is the outcome of extensive research and testing, and as a result, Molnlycke has managed to do so while still allowing the dressing to maintain its structure and integrity without becoming bulky.
High Retention
Mextra Superabsorbent Dressing absorbs wound exudate and locks it in. Its high retention ability reduces the number of dressing changes required, and in turn keeps clinical costs down, while greatly reducing the risk of wound leakage. This high retention is essential in enabling the Mextra to remain on the wound for up to seven days.
Improved Conformability
The upgraded Mextra Superabsorbent has softer borders and increased conformability. The improved conformability makes it easier to apply and allows for a perfect fit along the contours of the patient's body. The softer borders ensure patient satisfaction and reduce secondary wounds and maceration.

The Power of Exudate Management
Exudate, the fluid that leaks from a wound, is the body's natural response to tissue injury and is part of the inflammatory phase of healing. Exudate consists of various substances like water, electrolytes, nutrients, and inflammatory mediators. All of these are necessary for the wound to heal properly. With increased absorption, high retention, and improved conformability, Mextra Dressing works with the body's natural methods of healing to increase healing success and reduce maceration.
