Silver Foam Dressing Mepilex Border Post-Op Ag Overview
Mepilex Border Post-Op Ag Dressing uses impregnated silver sulfate particles and Safetac technology to assist in the management of acute surgical wounds. Designed to help reduce surgical site infections and minimize pain, the impregnated ionic silver “creates an antimicrobial action” that “kills 99.9 percent of a wide range of bacteria for up to seven days,” according to the manufacturer. The Safetac technology used in the Mölnlycke Border Post-Op Ag Foam Dressing promotes less skin damage during removal and new tissue protection for faster healing. The post-op dressing has a transparent border that allows for easy wound and exudate inspection as well.
Additionally, the foam dressing is a flex-cut pad that conforms and stretches to various body shapes, so the dressing can be worn on-the-go without falling off. Users can adjust the Mepilex Silver Foam Dressing without having to worry about leftover residue or the dressing losing its adhesiveness.

How to Use Mepilex Border Post-Op Ag All-In-One Silver Dressing
Wound Preparation
Gently wash the wound with soap and water. Do not use harsh chemicals. Let the wound air-dry or pat it dry with a cloth or towel.
Applying
Put on disposable gloves. Peel off the large part of the film of the Mepilex Border (choose a dressing that slightly overlaps the wound). Apply the adhesive side of the dressing face down. Slowly remove the rest of the film while applying the adhesive onto the wound. Smooth down the dressing’s borders, avoiding large wrinkles or air bubbles.
Removal
Slowly peel off the dressing. Wet the dressing with saline or water if it won’t come off of the wound, depending on the recommendation of a healthcare provider. Throw the used dressing away.
Frequency of Change
Depending on the wound and level of exudate, the wound dressing can remain in place for several days. The dressing should be changed when the pad is filled or saturated with exudation. Talk to a healthcare provider to know specifically how often to change the dressing.

Comparable Products
A similar product to the Mepilex Post-Op is the Tritec Antimicrobial Dressing with Silver because it also uses silver to combat microbes. The main differences in the two products are the size of the dressings and the use of Safetac technology.
A product that would provide additional silver antimicrobial help is the Silver Sept Wound Gel. The gel can be used in a wound for up to three days.
