Who Uses The CURAD Xeroform Petrolatum Dressing? Anyone trying to heal a surgical site, burn, or wound with painful and delicate tissues that require extra care with a nonadherent dressing that doesnt bind to the wound.
Why They Love It: The dressing is impregnated with compounds that ensure it wont attach to the wound and cause trauma when removed. It also maintains a moist wound healing environment and controls odor.
Overview: CURAD Xeroform Sterile Petrolatum Gauze Dressing by Medline
Medline CURAD Xeroform Petrolatum Gauze Dressing is a sterile primary contact layer that covers and protects dry to lightly exuding wounds. This impregnated gauze looks unique because of its yellow color and texture which keeps the bandage from sticking to the wound. When there are fragile and sensitive tissues, this primary dressing gives the user peace of mind that it won't add trauma while also enhancing the wound's ability to heal. Each CURAD Non-Adherent Xeroform Petrolatum Dressing is individually packaged to maintain sterility and prevent the introduction of bacteria to the wound site.

Impregnated Gauze
The CURAD cotton gauze dressing is impregnated with petrolatum and 3% Xerforom, or bismuth tribomophenate. CURAD Xeroform moisturizing ingredients ensure that the dressing is gentle and won't cause pain when it is lifted away. Xeroform also has a deodorizing agent that prevents bacterial growth to promote healing and control wound odor. This nonadherent impregnated dressing creates a supportive barrier to a secondary retention dressing that won't stick to the wound.
Maintains Moist Wound Environment
The impregnated compounds also create a moist wound environment that helps the wound regenerate cells and heal. The gauze bandage is slightly permeable to allow light exudate to pass through to the secondary dressing. This is why it is contraindicated for application on highly exuding wounds.
Indications
The dressing is sterile to ensure delicate wound sites are not exposed to bacteria. The wound type can be nondraining to lightly exuding, such as the following wound types:
- Minor and partial-thickness burns
- Nondraining to lightly exuding wounds
- Lacerations
- Donor sites
- Abrasions
- Skin graft sites
- Suture wounds
- Cancer resections
- Surgical incisions
