OneTouch Ultra 2 Overview

OneTouch Ultra 2 is one of the most popular glucose measuring devices in the world. Why? OneTouch only needs a speck of blood, so users are not continually pricking their fingers. It is accurate, and it is reliable. Reliability is one of the most important things, and OneTouch offers the ability to label results to track whether the testing is pre- or post-meal. This allows users to keep more accurate records and help them manage their diabetes.

OneTouch Ultra 2 Meter saves records for 7, 14, and 30 days. Once obtaining results, the user may not only flag the results but also comment on them. Users can choose from comments such as, "Not Enough Food," "Too Much Exercise," "Medication," "Vacation," and so many more. To view a past date, select "Last Result," "All Results," or "Result Average" from the Main Menu.

What Comes in the Box

One Touch Ultra 2 comes with batteries, so it is ready to go straight from the box. To help with smooth and precise testing, it comes with the OneTouch Delica Plus lancet device with 13 depth settings to provide better control for the users at hand. Delica Plus also comes with extra fine (33G) and fine (30G) heads for ultra-smooth skin penetration.

This package also comes with 10 sterile lancets, a user guide, and a carrying case -- everything needed to track blood sugar levels.

How to Use OneTouch Ultra 2 Blood Glucose Monitoring System

This device's design is user-friendly and simple to use. To turn on the device, hold down the "OK" button for a couple of seconds to open the main menu. Once the preferred language and date is set, the OneTouch Ultra Meter is ready to be used.

Once the device is set up, insert a test strip into the test port. Do not bend, cut, or alter the test strip in any way before use. It is recommended to use OneTouch-branded test strips (if replacements are needed, OneTouch Ultra Fastdraw Test Strips are a good choice). Once the test strip is inserted, a black startup screen should appear instructing the user to "Apply Blood." If this is the first time using this particular unit, a flashing "—" will appear on the screen. To troubleshoot this, simply match the code on the meter with the code on the test strip vial. Once matched, the code should flash 3 times and then change to read "Apply Blood." The meter is now ready to be used for a blood glucose test.

Now that the meter is set up and ready to go, use the Lancet to apply the speck of blood needed. The OneTouch Delica Plus is the recommended lancet of choice and comes with the system. To use the Delica Plus, remove the lancing cap and insert a sterile lancet into the device. The lancet should snap into place when it is fully inserted. Put the cap back on and adjust the depth setting to the preferred depth. Next, pull the slider back to cock the lancing device. The last thing to do is to insert a test strip into the meter and puncture the finger.

When puncturing the finger, hold firmly against the skin and release the button. Make sure a round drop of blood is formed and that it is not smeared; if smeared, squeeze finger to reproduce a droplet of blood. Do not use the smeared blood.
