Health-o-Meter Digital Waist-High Scale Overview
The Health-o-Meter Digital Physician Waist-High Scale is a digital scale that has a swivel LCD display and a 600-pound weight capacity. It weighs and calculates BMI and connects to most EMR systems via USB. The scale has a five-minute auto-off feature for when it is not in use, allowing it to conserve energy. It comes with an AC adapter but can be powered by AA batteries as well, so it doesn't need to be positioned next to an outlet to use. It has wheels and handles for portability, making it easy to move from room to room. The Digital Physician Waist-High Scale is available with a height rod (Health-o-Meter 599KLHR) or without (Health-o-Meter 599KL).
Using a Scale
The Physician Waist-High Scale should be placed on a flat, stable surface, and only the patient should stand on its platform. At waist height, the LCD display will show the user's weight. The user's height can then be entered using the up or down buttons to calculate Body Mass Index.
How Much Weight Can a Scale Hold?
The scales come in a variety of models that accommodate a wide range of patient weights; the Health-o-Meter 599KL is a higher-capacity scale that can hold up to 600 pounds. The higher weight capacity allows for physicians to get accurate measurements on patients with more diverse body types and weights.
