Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Mouth Guards

A CPR mouth guard is a clear plastic sheet that goes over the patient's mouth and nose. These are single-use and compact barriers, perfect for on-the-go or for use during training classes where multiple students will use the same CPR manikin. The see-through material lets medical professionals visually monitor the patient. A one-way valve allows the rescuer to transfer oxygen to the patient via mouth without skin touching. This type of CPR mouth barrier can be used on both adults and children. Most are only safety measures and do not enhance the effectiveness of breaths.

CPR Mouth Barrier and Sheilds Dummy Placement

Protection Made With Convenience In Mind

CPR shields are designed to be disposable. Some come in small packages that are small enough to fit in pockets, purses, or glove compartments. Some will also come with detailed placement instructions on their packaging or on the shield itself.

Laerdal Face Shield CPR Barrier

CPR Microshield Mouth Barrier

Some face shields have a plastic airway tunnel that goes into the patient's mouth. This CPR Microshield feature keeps the shield in place and ensures the patient's mouth remains open during resuscitation. It also acts as a valve to allow oxygen to flow further into the patient's mouth and prevent any blowback.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Masks

CPR masks are a different kind of CPR shield. They work in conjunction with a resuscitation bag to introduce oxygen to the lungs via bag valve mask. The mask creates a seal around the patient's mouth and nose, ensuring that no oxygen escapes, while eliminating the need for mouth-to-mouth contact. The clear material of the mask allows medical professionals to get a proper fit and monitor the patient visually.
