Versatile
The Xeroform Dressing is available in multiple sizes and forms, meant for different kinds of wounds.
Occlusive. The Xeroform Occlusive Petrolatum Gauze dressings are primary-contact dressings that do not allow air or moisture to reach the wound. They cover and protect the wound, keeping the environment moist to promote healing. These dressings are best for minimally exuding and superficial wounds. They are also ideal for surgical wounds and skin graft sites. The Xeroform Occlusive Gauze Strip dressings can also be used for compression therapy or to pack wounds. They are appropriate for use with both deep and shallow wounds.
Non-Occlusive dressings allow air to reach the wound bed. They are indicated for donor and recipient sites, first- and second-degree burns, abrasions, chronic wounds, and low- to high-exudate wounds. They may also serve as secondary dressings.
Warnings
If sensitivity to bismuth tribromophenate exists in the patient, irritation may develop.
